Industry "Firsts"
VoltDelta® innovation in all phases of Directory Assistance has led to
virtually every major DA service provider in North America utilizing all or some
components of VoltDelta’s hosted DA call distribution and operator workstation
software, listing database and enhanced applications. Notable milestones
include:
- 1977 – Deployed the world’s first computerized Directory Assistance
system at Rochester Telephone replacing operators manually searching phone directories.
- Also in 1977 deployed the first computerized Intercept system, providing
digitized storage of changed telephone numbers, eliminating numerous manual
steps for operators.
- 1994 – One of the first to use voice recognition to automate Directory
Assistance calls.
- 1997 - Deployed the first nationwide DA database system, allowing callers
to simply dial “411” to search for listings across the United
States.
- 2007 – Directory Assistance personalization was first deployed by VoltDelta
with the first system capable of tracking caller preference for language.
- Also in 2007 the first to enable an online system to allow wireless subscribers
to add their own mobile numbers to the U.S. national DA database.
- 2008 – Deployed unique CrystalWAVE voice recognition developed
by the VoltDelta Speech Science team to improve accuracy with context sensitivity.
